Ocean Bio-Chem, Inc. competes for market share in the $14 billion per year boating industry and in the $6 billion plus per year recreational vehicle (RV) market. Through December 31, 2000, Starbrite sales were divided as follows: 60% boating, 30%, RV and 10% aircraft and specialty. Total industry sales for boating and RV together exceeded $20 billion in 2000.

During 2000, an estimated $1.4 billion was spent on accessories for boating and the RV markets. Ocean Bio-Chem potentially benefits from the sale or use of all boats, RVs and motor homes, because both new and used, require maintenance. This is especially true when considering the needs for boat safety and an owner's natural desire to protect an expensive investment.

The appearance and maintenance products for both markets, are sold within niches that have yet to be fully exploited. Historically, of the estimated $1.4 billion plus spent on accessories in 2000, approximately 70% is spent on boating and about 30% on the RV market. Since the Company is one of the leading suppliers in both areas, when it introduces a new product, it is simply the best candidate to enjoy an increase in its market share. In a study quoted by the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association, the University of Michigan projects the number of RV-owning households will rise from the current record of 8.6 million to 10.4 million in the year 2010 -- a gain of 21 percent, outpacing overall U.S. household growth of 15 percent.
